Film website Icewhole.com has taken an unusual and innovative step in order to find a sponsor for their first Quarterly Awards event at the Everyman Theatre in October, by putting the sponsorship up for ‘auction' on eBay to benefit the film industry's charity the Cinema

and Television Benevolent Fund (CTBF) .

Icewhole.com, the free and burgeoning site for short film-makers, is partnering the UK's major film and television charity, the CTBF, in an auction for sponsorship of its first major Awards ceremony. The aim is to raise awareness of the charity within the younger film-making community while providing an exciting platform for emerging talent. Proceeds will be shared equally between the CTBF and the Icewhole.com event.

The event is supported and co-hosted by The Everyman Cinema in Hampstead, which will become a regular quarterly date in the calendar, the first being October 13th 2008. Many film and theatre personalities are expected to attend to lend their support.

The auction will begin on Monday 29th September, terminating on Saturday 4th October at 12pm. Pearl and Dean, one of Icewhole.com's major supporters will open the bidding with an offer of £1,000.

Sponsors for the Individual awards include: Pearl and Dean, Kodak, Pinewood Studios, Total Film and the awards will be given in the following categories:
Original Screenplay; Best Film Shot on Film; Best Sound; Best Trailer; Best Animation; Best Film Score; Best Music Video. All the award winning films will be screened and leading industry professionals from the Icewhole.com panel will be on hand to present the prizes to the winners.

Daniel Broch, Everyman Media Group, Founder said: 'We're delighted to be involved in the First Icewhole.com Quarterly Awards that will announce some very exciting new talent, and also provide a benefit back to the film community and CTBF.'

Lord Attenborough said 'I am delighted to be able to support Icewhole.com with their promotion of up-and-coming Directors, Writers and Actors. Icewhole.com provides a really exciting way for new talent to be seen by Industry Professionals and makes it easier for new film makers to work together and, of course, there is no substitute for hands-on experience. The Icewhole.com Awards is a great idea and I look forward to viewing some of the films.'

Peter Hoare, Chief Executive of the CTBF said: 'We are delighted that Icewhole.com has approached us with this unusual idea. We are extremely excited to be part of this groundbreaking venture, and delighted to be so closely involved with aspiring film makers.'

Kathryn Jacob, CEO: 'Pearl and Dean are a major supporter of Icewhole.com and film makers we are delighted to open the bidding with this auction - which not only is a great bit of fun, but also helps some fantastic talent.'
