A Bulgarian motorist has admitted drinking 20 litres of beer before causing an accident. Police stopped the man after a minor traffic accident. He admitted he had drunk a massive amount of beer before then passing out in front of them. The 25 year-old man was found to have a blood alcohol level of 0.851. Police say half that amount - a blood alcohol level of 0.40 - can be fatal, whereas the legal limit while driving in Bulgaria is 0.05. Bulgarian police have raised the number of checks on drivers in an attempt to curb the number of road deaths, after over 1,000 people were killed in road accidents in 2007.
