Zimbabwe international music legend, Oliver Mtukudzi and Mbira maestro, Chiwoniso Maraire join up for a VIP Access music concert on 20 July at the Bassline in Newtown. This will be Oliver Mtukudzi's very last performance in Johannesburg just before he jets off for a three month international tour of the US. On the other hand, Chiwoniso Maraire, born to an Mbira guru - Dumisani will be performing for the first time after her successful European tour that saw her tour countries like German, Belgium and the UK.
This is a show like you have never seen before. Many a time, you see Oliver Mtukudzi or Chiwoniso on stage but never get the up-close and personal drift. The two musicians perform solo for the first time together - mirroring the old in Tuku and the young in Chiwoniso. With his acoustic and drums, fans will get to see the new side of Tuku while Chiwoniso takes us back to the roots, the history of the mbira instrument.
Both are well accomplished artist with a flair for professionalism. They were both born in music and continue to respect the profession that has carried them through generations.

About Tuku:
Tuku's career has spanned twenty six years and including his latest hit album TSIVO released in November 2003, he has composed forty six original albums (nearly all of them best-sellers). But it is his dedication to the live music scene in Zimbabwe - continually playing to enthusiastic audiences in even the remotest parts of the country - that has earned him the place in people's hearts that he holds today. In the past six years, his popularity has risen extensively in the Southern African region and together with his band The Black Spirits, he regularly ventures across borders into South Africa, Botswana, Swaziland, Malawi, Zambia and Mocambique.
