- WBNS-AM (1460 The Fan) and Bucknuts Media Network are pleased to announce a working relationship beginning today.

This partnership calls for members of the Bucknuts.com staff to make appearances during 1460 The Fan's newscasts as well as for regular appearances on the station's local sports talk shows and pregame and postgame shows.

In addition, 1460 The Fan and Bucknuts will share content on their two popular web sites, 1460thefan.com and Bucknuts.com.

"We look forward to the partnership with the Bucknuts Media Network," said 1460 The Fan program director Jimmy Powers. "Their staff members are extremely knowledgeable and can provide great insight on sports news and happenings that are relevant to the Ohio State athletic program, which

will add tremendous value to our shows on a regular basis."

Bucknuts Media Network managing editor Steve Helwagen said the partnership will bring benefits to both sides.

"We are extremely pleased to be able to partner with 1460 The Fan," Helwagen said. "It makes sense for us to partner with them because their station is the flagship station of the Ohio State Radio Network. They cater to the same fan base we are trying to reach. From their viewpoint, our personalities should be a great fit by participating in their local sports talk shows.

"We are also each affiliated with ESPN, so it also fits together that we should be affiliated with one another."

There are several sides to this agreement, including: -0- -- Bucknuts staff members like Helwagen, assistant editor, Dave Biddle, basketball correspondent, Jeff Rapp and recruiting analysts, Bill Kurelic and Duane Long, will be available to comment on events of the day for newscasts on 1460 The Fan. In addition, Bucknuts staff members will make appearances on 1460 The Fan's daily sports talk shows, including The Midday Show with Mike Ricordati and Scott Torgerson (noon-2 p.m.) and The Big Show with Chris Spielman, Bruce Hooley and Kirk Herbstreit (4-7 pm). In addition, Bucknuts staff members will be regular guests on OSU pre-game and post-game shows throughout the season. "This is an exciting thing for our people to be able to go on 1460 The Fan and interact with their knowledgeable hosts and also with Ohio State fans from time to time," Helwagen said. "Our reporters are in the field covering Ohio State athletics, high school athletics and recruiting. We are excited because we feel we can bring that expertise to 1460 The Fan and share it with their listeners." -- The 1460thefan.com web site will serve as a host for the existing Bucknuts Radio Hour. "Again, we look at 1460 as a way to help us get our message out there to Ohio State fans in central Ohio and, literally, all over the world," Helwagen said. "Our goal will be to be a good partner in any promotions 1460 has in this community and on the radio."

Helwagen is slated to make appearances on both of 1460's live shows on Tuesday to announce the partnership between 1460 and Bucknuts.
