- Monell Center Liz Galantino, 215-925-3459 liz@metrospective.net "Odor Limits," an interactive multimedia exhibit that explores the contribution of smell to artistic experience, runs through June 28, 2008 at the University City Science Center's Esther M. Klein Art Gallery and is presented through a collaboration between the Science Center and the Monell Center.

Exclusively showing in Philadelphia, "Odor Limits" showcases

the works of internationally renowned curators and artists to demonstrate how scent can prompt thought-provoking insights into cultural differences, environmentalism, personal identity, spirituality and the philosophy of the body.

Curated by Jim Drobnick and Jennifer Fisher, founders of Toronto-based DisplayCult, the artists featured in "Odor Limits," all of whom have pioneered scent's use in contemporary art, are Oswaldo Macia (London), Jenny Marketou (Athens/New York), Chrysanne Stathacos (Toronto/New York) and Clara Ursitti (Glasgow).

Using actual and imaginary scents in video, performance and interactive installations, including a visitor's project that extends into Philadelphia's University City district, the works presented are Macia's 1 Woodchurch Road, London NW6 3PL and Smellscape; Marketou's Smell It: A Do-It-Yourself Smell Map and SMELLYOU>SMELLME; Stachacos' Wish Machine; and Ursitti's installations exploring smell and body odor.

A cell phone tour provides commentary from curators, artists and Monell olfactory scientists.
