ZURICH, Switzerland (AP) - Norway scored in overtime to beat Denmark 5-4 Wednesday and progress to the second round of the ice hockey world championship.
Defenseman Tommy Jakobsen scored 1:11 into the extra period after Norway trailed three times during the game.
Norway joins Finland and the Czech Republic _ who play later Wednesday _ in advancing from Group D to the 12-team second phase.
Denmark twice led in the first period on goals from Alexander Sundberg and Jesper Damgaard but Norway responded through Patrick Thoresen and a short-handed goal by Anders Bastiansen.
Morten Green then gave Denmark a 3-2 lead early in the second, but Norway equalized on a power play goal from Tore Vikingstad.
Norway took its first lead on another power play 4:51 into the third through Mats Zuccarello Aasen, but Denmark replied less than two minutes later when Daniel Nielsen fired in a power play slap shot.
Pal Grotnes had 32 saves for the win, and Denmark's Patrick Galbraith had 37 stops.
