The non-profit Shield Foundation announced today (Tues.) that it will donate a home to a worthy Jacksonville, Fla., Military Family, who will become the first recipients of The Shield Foundation’s Home for Veterans humanitarian program designed to provide housing for needy veterans and their families.
"The Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Jacksonville Chapter 7 has been most helpful in bringing deserving veterans to our attention," said Joe Dillard, Director of Community Relations at the Shield Foundation. "We will be prepared to announce the name of the designated Military Family before Christmas, and will have their home ready for occupancy in January so that they can start the New Year off on a solid footing."
Rusty Shields, who began his Foundation eight years
ago as a 501(c)(3) public charity, said, "I’ve always had a deep appreciation and affinity for our great and gallant service men and women. They are an inspirational force, the noble and selfless contributions they make around the world keeps our citizens and our country safe and respected wherever they serve."
Mr. Shields, a successful businessman from North Carolina, is a principal of Pinnacle Property Solutions, a real estate company specializing in the sale of foreclosed U.S. properties on an international basis.
