- With Hurricane Ike taking aim for the state of Florida, Tropical Storm Hanna meandering along Florida's East Coast and Josephine gaining strength, Niagara Bottling is providing water to state and federal emergency management services.
"We've entered the most active part of the hurricane season," said Brian Hess, Director of Operations for Niagara Bottling. "And we're prepared to provide
water for any community in need throughout Florida."
From the Florida Plant in Groveland, 105 total loads have already been shipped out, which means 3,447,360 bottles of water will be provided to first responders and victims of Hurricane Ike. After this weekend, Niagara expects to ship an additional 100 loads, or 3,283,200 bottles.
Earlier this hurricane season, Niagara donated water to the Lake County Sheriff's Office and Sumter County to assist first responders and victims of Hurricane Fay. Additionally, Niagara donated water to Hurricane Fay victims in Mount Dora after a dyke broke and caused the evacuation of nearly 100 homes.
Recently, Niagara also provided water to Texas communities with victims displaced by Hurricane Gustav.
