PHNS announced that Newton Memorial Hospital (NMH), a community hospital in Newton, New Jersey, has entered into a six-year agreement for PHNS to provide all of NMH's information technology (IT) services. PHNS will enhance NMH's IT performance, processes and procedures; relocate NMH's data center to PHNS' national subterranean data center to provide high availability, disaster recovery and business continuity services;

and assist in controlling NMH's IT operating and capital costs. As an important part of the agreement, NMH's IT employees became employees of PHNS as of January 1, 2009.

"We concluded that teaming with PHNS is the best way for Newton Memorial to rapidly improve the timeliness, efficiency, expertise, capabilities and containment of our IT operations," said Tom Senker, FACHE, President and Chief Executive Officer of NMH. "We are very impressed with the significant IT improvements that PHNS has delivered to other hospitals, and look forward to bringing our IT operations to the next level to help facilitate the delivery of high quality patient care services for which we are known."

Hospitals & Health Network, a national magazine that surveys more than 1,300 hospitals across the country, recognized Newton Memorial Hospital's IT upgrades in 2008 with its "Most Improved" award among Most Wired hospitals. Newton Memorial was one of only 25 hospitals nationwide to receive this honor.

"PHNS is very pleased to have been selected to provide IT services to Newton Memorial," said Richard K. Kneipper, Chief Administrative Officer and Co-Founder of PHNS. "PHNS is focused on helping community hospitals such as Newton Memorial to improve their IT services, while controlling and capping their IT costs, by consolidating their IT infrastructures and resources into a centralized, highly efficient delivery platform," added Mr. Kneipper.
