The conference and exhibition will be returning to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC, from December 1–3, 2009, where thousands of digital video professionals are

expected to attend for three days of education, exhibitions and networking opportunities.

The DC Fugitive Safe Surrender Program - Case Study presented by Leonard A. Snipes Jr., Senior Public Affairs Specialist, The Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency (CSOSA) - Wednesday, December 2 nd at 11:30 a.m.

The Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency (CSOSA) provides parole and probation services for Washington, D.C. CSOSA began offering television and radio shows under the title of “DC Public Safety” in January 2007. It is now the highest ranked social media program for criminal justice issues in America, with the highest-ranked blog for public safety issues. The two-part presentation will include “Accomplishing Public Relations Goals Through Social Media: Demystifying the Process” by CSOSA Enterprise Director Tim Barnes and “Using Social Media to Accomplish Agency Goals—the DC Fugitive Safe Surrender Program—A Case Study” by Senior Public Affairs Specialist Leonard Snipes.


The Pentagon Channel's Push into the Social Media Frontier presented by Brian Natwick, General Manager, The Pentagon Channel – Wednesday, December 2 nd at 3:45 p.m.

Brian Natwick will speak about his push to bring the Pentagon Channel into the social media frontier. The channel is putting products and information across multiple social media platforms and using a variety of Web tools to help the audience to better interact with the channel and gain information more quickly in their preferred medium. Natwick joined the Pentagon Channel team after four years at Discovery Communications, where as a producer he focused on digital networks and live special projects. He holds a BA in Instructional Technology and in Television and Film both from California State University, Chico, California.



New Technologies for Video Archive Restoration and Preservation at the Library of Congress presented by James Snyder, Senior Systems Administrator of the Motion Picture, Broadcasting & Recorded Sound Division of the Library of Congress – Thursday, December 3 rd at 10:30 a.m.

James Snyder will talk about the mission of the National Audio Visual Conservation Center, the challenges of both developing the new technologies and restoring the old technologies to reproduce the collection. Snyder will provide insights and lessons learned on media preservation and the challenges of scaling large data repositories.



Lights, Camera… Lawsuit? presented by Laura Possessky, of Gura & Possessky PLLC – Thursday, December 3 rd at 1:30 p.m.

Legal issues can make the difference between seeing video production dreams come true, or watching them go up in smoke. This workshop, led by media, intellectual property and entertainment lawyer Laura Possessky, is designed to inform professionals about key legal concepts, to identify common legal problems and to determine when legal counsel may become necessary. Core concepts of copyright, contracts and business law will be covered. This is an interactive program and attendees are encouraged to come with plenty of questions for a lively discussion.
