2009-12-11 21:22:57 - Rangers fans are going delirious asking for the head of John Tortorella.

NEW YORK, NY -- Come on Ranger fans, already? Be serious!

Once the Rangers went on to start the season on a HUGE winning streak I knew it was setting themselves up for another fall. The roster looked very good, but not great. The Rangers finally got their superstar scorer in Marian Gaborik, yeah the same Gaborik who when signed the fans were in disgust over because of his injury prone career. Yet, Rangers fans are calling this team the “New York Gaborik's” now.

It's really funny how things work in New York sports.

The fans called for the head of former coach Tom Renney for the last 2 season he coached the Blueshirts. Everyone said the guy to bring in was John

Tortorella and when they did you could have basically thrown a ticker tape parade in Manhattan. That's how happy the fans were.

In his second stint back with the club after taking over for Renney he had the Rangers skate to a 12-7 record with a playoff berth with a roster full of question marks (ie: Nikolai Zherdiv, Nik Antropov, Scott Gomez and Chris Drury to name a few). All was well in Ranger Land. The Rangers FINALLY got the coach the fans wanted, a real coach. They haven't had one since Mike Keenan bolted town after hoisting the Stanley Cup over his head.
