2009-12-23 21:01:52 - How does Glen Sather continue to dodge a firing and keep his job? Many and all fans ponder the same thought.

NEW YORK, NY -- Another Christmas Season is upon us as the year 2010 is right around the corner.

2010, can you believe that? Time sure is flying, well at least for us anyway. It's definitely not flying for New York Rangers General Manager Glen Sather.

It will be 10 years now that Sather has been in full control of the Blueshirts, 10 years, and what do the Rangers have to show for it? A few early playoff exits, huge acquisitions of old, broken down players past their prime and a coaching carousel.

How is this guy still in control of this team?

It's actually funny in a way. Just think about it, the media never calls for the head of Sather to be

delivered after terrible hockey seasons, only the heads of the coaches. The fans may call for the heads of the coaches also from time to time but they see who the real problem is, and it all falls on Sather.

The year 2000, enter Glen Sather. The first ax to fall was on the head of John Muckler (who most fans weren't sympathetic about anyway). Muckler deserved to be fired. John Tortorella Part 1 took over and it only lasted a few games as he was the second fatality of the Sather regime. Everyone's favorite (sarcasm folks) new head coach came into power by the name of Ron Low, how he lasted two seasons still baffles me. Maybe it was because of the Tom Selleck mustache?
