New York Association for Business Economics Presents 2008 Butler Award to Economist Martin Feldstein

- New York Association for Business Economics Kathleen Stephansen, 212-538-3260 President or Madhavi Venkatesan, 917-496-0440 Media Director The New York Association for Business Economics ("NYABE") announced today it will present its annual Butler award to Martin Feldstein on October 14, 2008 at a luncheon ceremony at the Harvard Club, 27 West 44th Street in New York City. The event is

scheduled for noon to 2:00 p.m. (EST). Costs for attending the luncheon are $55 for members and $85 for guests. Reservations can be made through October 10, 2008 by using the NYABE web-based registration system www.nyabe.org/form.htm or by calling 212-986-9300. Dr. Feldstein's topic for the luncheon will be "Dealing with the Financial Crisis."

Martin Feldstein is the George F. Baker Professor of Economics at Harvard University and President Emeritus of the National Bureau of Economic Research. He served as President and CEO of the NBER from 1977-82 and 1984-2008. The NBER is a private, nonprofit research organization that for more than 80 years has produced nonpartisan studies of the American economy.

From 1982 through 1984, Martin Feldstein was Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers and President Reagan's chief economic advisor. He served as President of the American Economic Association in 2004. In 2006, President Bush appointed him to the President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board.

Dr. Feldstein is a member of the American Philosophical Society, a Corresponding Fellow of the British Academy, a Fellow of the Econometric Society and a Fellow of the National Association of Business Economics. He is also a member of the Trilateral Commission, the Council on Foreign Relations, the Group of 30, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

Dr. Feldstein has received honorary doctorates from several universities and is an Honorary Fellow of Nuffield College, Oxford. In 1977, he received the John Bates Clark Medal of the American Economic Association, awarded every two years to the economist under 40 judged to have made the greatest contribution to economic science. He is the author of more than 300 research articles in economics.

Dr. Feldstein is an economic advisor to several businesses and government organizations in the United States and abroad. He is a regular contributor to the Wall Street Journal.
