2008-08-18 14:29:41 - Report Buyer, the online destination for business intelligence for major industry sectors, has added a new report which finds that only 50% of Global 2000 companies will deploy VoIP contact centres by 2012.

The report which is titled ‘Global 2000 companies coming on the IP convergence bandwagon, but it will take longer than most analysts think', is available at www.reportbuyer.com/go/IEM00539. It also states that only 70% of Global 2000 companies will deploy Desktop VoIP (IP PBX) by 2012.

Authors of the report state that telecommunications and networking procurement professionals at

Global 2000 companies will continue to invest in IP networks and services. However, they highlight that the pace of network adoption is slower than what most analysts think.

While industry analysts typically recommend that enterprises complete their IP migrations as soon as possible, this publication advises that companies should not jump right in to network migrations, primarily because VoIP-based technologies have lower-quality calling and videoconferencing capabilities than existing services.

The study finds that especially in call centre environments, most financial institutions say that IP-based call centres are inevitable but there are costs in terms of customer service that they bear as a result of implementing IP-based networks.

Highlights of the publication include:

• 65% of the 500 executives that responded agreed with the statement that they face mounting pressure from their management to complete their IP migrations.

• Global 2000 companies are also adopting more wireless remote-access options. 25% of Global 2000 companies surveyed said that they already use wireless remote-access technologies and another 15% said that they were very interested in wireless remote access technologies.

• 66% of respondents felt that quality of IP-based calling was an important constraint to their IP migration projects. Notably, companies in the financial services sector (80% of respondents) were more likely than in other sectors to rate this factor as an important constraint to the deployment of IP-based networks.

The report, ‘Global 2000 companies coming on the IP convergence bandwagon, but it will take longer than most analysts think' is available from Report Buyer.
