PHOENIX, AZ -- (Marketwire) -- 11/11/09 -- AZ Veterans Lead (AZVL), a non-profit support network developed by vets for vets, launched its social and professional networking website www.AZveteransLead.com : , today, on Veterans Day. The website allows veterans from all branches of the military to create and maintain their own unique profile to network with local business leaders, professionals and employers across a wide variety of professions, trades and specialties.

AZVL's mission to provide professional networking opportunities to veterans is already widely supported in the community, by organizations like Maricopa Community Colleges and Arizona Department of Veteran Services. "AZ Veterans Lead is a great resource to the more than 600,000 veterans throughout the state of Arizona," said Colonel Joey Strickland, director of the Arizona Department of Veteran Services. "The network not only helps these vets professionally, but it also allows them to connect with fellow veterans, and offers practical support with questions about VA claims and other veteran affairs."

AZVL is the brainchild of Iraq War veteran Colin Day (US Army) and Gulf War veteran Paul Clark (US Navy), who with help from local internet development firm Logan Interactive developed www.AZveteransLead.com : to provide social and professional networking opportunities and assist Arizona veterans in establishing a support network to more easily transition to civilian life.
"By offering direction and support in helping vets get their claims started, providing a social and professional networking tool for them, as well as a free career center where they can upload their resumes, we hope to provide veterans with the tools and skills needed to market themselves effectively," said Colin Day, co-founder AZVL.

AZVL also provides individuals and businesses an avenue to show their support for Arizona's veterans through sponsorship opportunities at different levels. Sponsors will receive a car and/or window sticker to proudly display their support. "Too often I hear people tell me they'd like to do something to support veterans but they don't know where to start,"
said AZVL co-founder Paul Clark. "AZVL is a great start. Both Colin and I are very proud at the launch of this site, and hope the people and businesses of Arizona will embrace it and help us make it a huge success."
