www.plathome.com/ - Page One PR for Plat'Home Jesse Casman, 415-321-2347 jesse@pageonepr.com Plat'Home(TOKYO:6836)(ISIN:JP3833000007), Japan's Linux technology pioneer, today announced the general availability of its KANSHI BlockS(TM) Pro solution in the United States. A palm-sized "micro server" built for automatic network and server surveillance, it provides regular status reports and immediately alerts users of any network failures.

While over half of the $7B IT operations management software market is spent on IT infrastructure monitoring and management, many solutions are expensive and add a significant layer of complexity. KANSHI BlockS Pro, in contrast, is a new approach to this large market, offering a low-cost, extremely reliable monitoring server with no moving parts that can be easily configured and installed in minutes. Roughly the size of a coffee mug (4.5'' x 3.2'' x 1.5''), it can fit virtually anywhere. Even better for large enterprises with many departments of varying sizes, it can withstand ambient temperatures of up to 104(degree)F, so it can be placed even where cooling is not available.

"We've developed a system for filming sporting events at international competitions and delivering video to a client machine in real-time. Equipment malfunctions need to be noticed instantly. However, the users of the monitoring system include specialists and non-specialists, so it can't be technically hard to use. It also has to be highly portable," said Dr. Mitsugu Kakuta of the Tokyo Institute of Technology's Interdisciplinary Graduate School of Science and Engineering. "We didn't have big budgets and spacious equipment vans that we could use. Without KANSHI BlockS Pro to work with, our system could not be built. There was simply no comparable solution on the market in the same low price range and with the same functionality as KANSHI BlockS."

KANSHI BlockS Pro is based on Plat'Home's core MicroServer design. The MicroServer has a robust, reliable construction easy to configure with a wide range of applications to develop custom appliance servers.

Key features of KANSHI BlockS Pro:

-- Monitor up to 253 servers, regardless of the manufacturer

-- No additional agent program for monitoring necessary

-- Regular status and alert messages can be sent by mail or syslog

-- Monitoring is possible by ping or TCP/UDP port, and by SNMP protocol

"KANSHI BlockS Pro has incredibly surprising advantages compared to other surveillance appliance products. The software is designed for extremely low energy consumption, ease-of-use and flexibility, while the deadly attractive hardware catches everyone's eye," said Tomoyasu Suzuki, President of Plat'Home. "I'm a lucky guy, selling such sexy hardware. Customers always comment on how they love the option of placing it virtually anywhere. For companies, departments, or remote offices tight on space, it's a great fit."

KANSHI BlockS Pro is available for sale online through the Plat'Home web site www.plathome.com.
