A new website, the British Business Portal, has been launched in London to support British businesses in Romania. The portal is at www.britishbusiness.ro : cts.businesswire.com/ct/CT?id=smartlink&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww .. .

This is a joint initiative by the British Embassy Bucharest, UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) and the British Romanian Chamber of Commerce (BRCC).

The British Business Portal aims to inform British businesses about the opportunities in Romania and help them export to or invest in that country. The portal provides useful information on key sectors of the Romanian economy, business opportunities, events, existing British business groups, requests for partnerships and more. Practical advice on doing business in Romania and relevant legislation are also available on or through the Portal.

There are currently more than 4,000

UK companies operating in Romania.

Martin Harris, the British Ambassador to Romania, said about the portal.

“British embassies are driving the UK Government’s global agenda for growth, and the British Business Portal is a practical example of this.

Romania has been identified as one of the countries offering great potential for British investors and exporters, with Britain now in the top 10 of foreign investors in the country.”

Raymond Breden, Executive Chairman of the BRCC, said: “The British Business Portal contributes greatly as a first point of information to help and support British businesses interested in expanding to Romania.

The country has much to offer with lower costs in resources and facilities, its need to develop and its size and resources. Compared to other emerging markets, Romania has the added advantages of being an EU member state and only three hours away from the UK.”

In Romania, the BRCC has entered into an agreement with UKTI, under which it is taking over some embassy functions in providing support for small-to-medium sized enterprises (SMEs). The Chamber is establishing a business centre to provide practical help, and is also initiating research projects.

Information on trading in Romania is also available from www.ukti.gov.uk : cts.businesswire.com/ct/CT?id=smartlink&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww .. .
