New Hampshire news conference: Jennifer Horn should withdraw as candidate for New Hampshire Republican Party chairman

Print article Print article

2013-01-09 06:21:58 - Andy Martin, a candidate to lead the New Hampshire Republican Party, will hold a telephone news conference today, Wednesday evening, January 9th to demand that Jennifer Horn withdraw as a candidate for state chairman. Horn’s opponents have disclosed that she has a $92,000 IRS tax lien on her home/business. Horn refuses to discuss the IRS matter, calling the issue of her IRS tax lien a “personal attack on my family.” Horn is supported by the GOP’s supposed “establishment.” Andy says that Horn is an embarrassment to the establishment and an embarrassment to herself. Andy charges that Horn procured her “establishment” endorsements by fraud, since establishment figures were totally unaware of Horn’s IRS tax lien when they endorsed her. “Jennifer Horn’s IRS tax lien is a millstone for the Republican Party of New Hampshire,” Andy says. “If Horn can’t discuss the issue and thinks people will ignore her use of the IRS as a piggy bank, she needs mental health treatment. As I said in my own announcement, the Democrats are salivating at the prospect of a Horn victory. The race for state chairman has become a two-person race; Horn is effectively out.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

ANNOUNCEMENT OF TELEPHONE NEWS CONFERENCE

New Hampshire Republican leader Andy Martin calls on Jennifer Horn to withdraw as a candidate for state chairman of the New Hampshire Republican Party

Andy charges that Horn procured “endorsements” from the state party’s “establishment” by fraudulently concealing her $92,000 IRS tax lien and Horn’s continuing financial problems

Andy says that only state party “establishment” leaders who have a “death wish” for the future of the GOP will continue to support Horn’s candidacy

Andy says the IRS and American taxpayers are not a “piggy bank” for Jennifer Horn and her husband

Andy says that unless Horn promptly withdraws, the GOP’s annual meeting on January 26th will become a national embarrassment

Andy says that on Friday he will begin issuing a series of letters to New Hampshire Republicans leaders, to explain his views and to explain the realities of politics; the first letter will address the question of negative campaigning

(MANCHESTER, NH) (January 9, 2013) Andy Martin, a candidate for state chairman of the New Hampshire Republican Party, will hold a telephone news conference today, January 9th to call on Jennifer Horn to withdraw as a candidate for state chairman of the Party at the Party’s annual meeting on January 26th. Andy is challenging Jennifer Horn and Andrew Hemingway for the GOP leadership post.

“When I announced my candidacy for state chairman I said Jennifer Horn was unqualified to lead the New Hampshire Republican Party Andy charges. “Ms. Horn has a $92,000 IRS tax lien against her home and business. Ms. Horn says that truthful reporting about her financial problems with the federal government is a ‘personal attack on my family(Please see links below).

“Ms. Horn is treating the IRS and American taxpayers as her personal piggy bank Andy says. Horn is borrowing money from American taxpayers by not paying taxes on income that she received. The unpaid taxes are five years old. I believe Ms. Horn has her own ‘debt ceiling’ problem. Horn’s approach to business may be the ‘Obama Way but it is most assuredly not the ‘Republican Party Way

“Yesterday I suggested that Horn had suffered a ‘breakdown’ in 2012 and needed mental health therapy. The fact that Ms. Horn believes she can ‘stonewall’ her IRS tax problems is a rather sad example of Horn’s serious and continuing mental health problems.

“Ms. Horn’s mental health problems go further than just a delusional state of reality. Her mental health problems allow her to commit fraudulent acts with a sense of mental impunity and immunity. Ms. Horn has been openly ‘endorsed’ by the vast bulk of the Republican Party’s ‘establishment How many members of this amorphous ‘establishment’ knew when they endorsed Horn that she had a $92,000 IRS tax lien hanging over her? I suspect that no one knew.

“In other words, instead of being open about her problems and telling people the truth about her past and continuing financial problems, Horn thought she could get elected with a $92,000 IRS hanging over her head. For five year-old taxes.

“With all due respect, I doubt you can find a psychologist in New Hampshire that would question my lay person’s analysis that Horn is delusional.

“New Hampshire Republicans deserve a state chairman who is both politically experienced and can deal with controversy.

“Controversy is an inescapable part of politics in the age of Obama. There is no sense in just quoting old remarks from President Reagan about avoiding intra-party criticism; Reagan is dead. Obama is alive and he is defining our politics. Political leaders today have to have the ability and the experience to deal with personal attacks and negative campaigning.

“I am candid about being controversial. In a lifetime of crime-fighting and exposing political corruption, I have made prominent political enemies, and they regularly attack me. I have made it to three presidential ‘enemies lists’ because I angered people in power and candidates for power. But I always told the truth and worked with facts, not lies. That’s why I have always survived.

In 2010 I triggered a national firestorm of controversy about then-candidate Mark Kirk’s private life and delusional military record. A corrupt state party chairman attacked me – for telling the truth about Kirk. Within months, the Washington Post and other leaders had confirmed the complete veracity of all of my allegations against Kirk. In other words, a Republican leader attacked an honest Republican for telling the truth about a dishonest Republican. Clearly, I am not afraid to tell the truth and fight for the facts. I always put my public integrity before politics.

“Sadly, in our society, you do not make friends or supporters by exposing corruption in the courts or government. You make enemies. And I have them. But I am open about this situation and I find nothing embarrassing about my record except a lawsuit a third of a century ago in which I made some regrettable remarks which have since been taken out of context.

“On the other hand, I have forty-eight years of experience dealing with controversy and working to make government work for the people, not the special interests.

“I have forty-eight years of public integrity behind me. Try and find a situation where I was caught lying. There aren’t any. I tell the truth, however unpalatable the truth may be.

“Ms. Horn thinks she can label her own business failures a ‘personal attack on my family’ and clam up. Does any Republican seriously believe the Democrats will not make a laughingstock out of Horn? Mitt Romney, anybody? The Democrats just a few months ago eviscerated Romney about his finances. And Romney had paid all of his taxes!

“But there is another ‘embarrassment’ for Horn: Being state party chairman is in reality and practicality a full-time job. You can’t lead if you’re not constantly traveling across the state. If Horn has business problems and can’t pay her IRS bills, where does she have the time to be a full-time party leader? Shouldn’t she be spending her time paying off her IRS liens? I repeat: Horn’s candidacy for state chairman is delusional.

Establishment’ Republican leaders who continue to endorse Horn after today are themselves delusional.

“Here is the reality: the race for state chairman is now a two-person race. Beginning Friday, I am going to start issuing and posting a series of ‘letters’ to Republican Party leaders, explaining my experience and my qualifications to lead the party. I have expressed a willingness and openness to sit down and talk with and work with all segments of our alienated and somewhat angry party. I can and will calm down the party, rebuild the cadre of party activists, and help lead the party to victory in 2014.

“I believe that as the party’s ‘establishment’ continues to review the qualifications of the two remaining candidates, they will feel comfortable with the fact that I am the best-qualified ‘anti-establishment’ candidate to lead the Republican Party of New Hampshire. In fact, I maybe the only candidate who can provide adult leadership and hammer out a consensus.

“Finally, I have been scheduling my news conferences in the evening, so Republicans and citizens who work can still get home in time to listen in and participate Andy says.

Andy is on a family vacation and will return home shortly.
