(Wed, Feb 20, 05:27AM)
10" - 12" of new snow, currently, its lightly snowing and there is the chance for snow showers thru the morning hours. The winds are expected to increase later this morning / afternoon and temps will be cold and chilly.
We are expecting to open Ch # 1 at 8am for scenic rides only, but ski patrol will evaluate as to whether there is any possibility of opening any ski runs down to the parking lot (chances are slim), dont get too excited.
Ch #2 and Ch #3 will open as soon as
we can get people into place and clear all of the new snow off of the lift ramps (a little bit of digging is required) best guess is from 830am - 9am.
12" of new snow on Thunder Mtn could make a big difference in our ability to open more runs, the ski patrol will be working diligently to try to open more terrain , please respect any closures that are not lifted, 12" on top of dirt is not enough to get some runs open, and the ski patrol will be taking tickets / passes for those that break closures.
The road department has been working all night but there will probably be restrictions of 4x4 vehicles and vehicles with chains required for travel up Mt Baldy road, please drive safe on your way up and remember to pull all the way to the side of the road when stuck and putting on chains so others can pass safely
