Mammoth increase in snow making capabilities to improve ski conditions at Mt Baldy. New 9 million gallon reservoir provides additional water.
Mt Baldy Ski Area announced today that they have made a mammoth increase in their snow making capabilities.
“After 15 years of negotiation with the Forestry Service we were given permission to install a new 9 million gallon reservoir,” states Keith Hunt President of the Mt Baldy Chamber of Commerce.
Mt Baldy Ski Lifts is operated under a Special Use Permit on the Angeles National Forest.
“The reservoir is in, contains water, and ready for the upcoming season.”
“With the reservoir and the installation of additional guns our snow making capabilities has increased almost 50% over last season.’
The old reservoir collects water from underground wells and then is pumped to the new reservoir further up the mountain
“We now the ability to make snow to
the top of two our most popular runs, Skyline and Robins”
“This is nothing but good news for skiers and snowboarders in Southern California. We will have better conditions, and better coverage.”
“All of this has come at a price. The permit for the reservoir cost $1 million and the construction cost another $1 million, we are committed to providing a better experience for everybody that visits Mt Baldy.”
“The Mt Baldy Chamber of Commerce is encouraging skiers and snowboarders to try the new Mt Baldy by offering free special season passes.”
“These special passes have a few restrictions and a one-time $49.95 activation fee to cover administrative costs, but that’s it.”
“This activation fee is about the same price as a daily discount ski lift ticket to Mt High or Big Bear but skiers and snowboarders can experience Mt Baldy all season.”
“We feel this is an irresistible offer to try Mt Baldy and experience out mammoth changes,” concludes Hunt.
