A Five Quasar Gravitational Lens in a Galaxy Cluster (Tel Aviv University, Caltech, ESA, NASA)
A Five Quasar Gravitational Lens in a Galaxy Cluster (Tel Aviv University, Caltech, ESA, NASA)
2008-05-01 18:52:21 - Evidence shows that the refracted and scattered light caused by the intergalactic and interstellar media often gives rise to false alarms and an illusion of gravitational lensing as would be suggested by the light bending rule of General Relativity.

It is conventionally accepted that gravitational lensing as suggested by General Relativity does not depend on the wavelength of light. All emissions, regardless of wavelength should be equally lensed. The lensing effects that are apparent in the optical images of the proclaimed gravitational lensing regions are not as apparent in the images of the same regions outside of the visible

spectrum. Research consistently shows that modern astronomical imaging techniques using charge-coupled devices (CCD's) simply amplify emissions that are both refracted and scattered by the interstellar and intergalactic refracting media. This light is essentially the weak background light seen only with the use of modern instruments equipped to detect the faint light scattered by the interstellar and intergalactic media, only recently to be noted in modern astronomy with the aid of CCD's. It is suggested that this scattered light often gives false alarms and gives rise to the illusion of gravitational lensing, as would be suggested by a direct interaction between gravitation and electromagnetism.

The event taking place at Sagittarius A* is an astrophysical experiment that apparently contradicts the light bending rule of General Relativity. Evidence of gravitational lensing of rays of light from the orbiting stars is yet to be observed. This region at the galactic center has been under intense observations since 1992. Significant findings pertaining to the time resolved images of this region has been published in a refereed paper, "Time resolved images from the center of the Galaxy appear to counter General Relativity", Dowdye, Jr., E.H., Astronomische Nachrichten, Volume 328, Issue 2, Date: February 2007, Pages: 186-191.
