2014-03-19 12:06:55 - Chennai : The Indian Cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni in an unprecedented move sued the Zee media corporation, IPS Sampath Kumar and News Nation over defamatory news broadcast.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni has filed a petition in the Madras High Court seeking compensation of Rs 100 crore from the said media group.
He has alleged that the media house has telecast defamatory news about him pertaining to the IPL fixing saga.
In response to Dhoni’s plea, the Madras High Court has restricted the Zee network from putting any news on air about the Indian captain in the IPL case.
The court has ordered an interim stay of 2 weeks in the case. Dhoni is the skipper of the Chennai Super Kings, which is owned by BCCI president N.Srinivasan.
The franchise quoted controversy in the sixth edition of IPL last year with its former Team Pricipal
and Srinivasa’s son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan was apprehended for his involvement in fixing IPL matches.
The charge against Meiyappan was later proved in the court.
