ATLANTA (October 26, 2012) – The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia (MOCA GA) today announces that its Annual “Off-the-Wall Pin-Up Show + Sale” will take place on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at MOCA GA, which is located at 75 Bennett Street from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Pin-Up 2012 remains a non-curated show open to all Georgia artists over the age of 18. Open to the general public, admission is a MOCA GA membership. Non-members may purchase a membership. From November 1 – November 30, 2012, the $25 Individual Artist/Student membership will be available at $12.50 thanks to a Possible Futures grant which will cover the other half of the membership fee. For buyers, Pin Up offers the opportunity to purchase affordable works of art from seasoned and emerging artists. For artists, it’s a fun party with wonderful opportunities to network with members of the Atlanta artistic community. Snacks and beverages are provided. Approximately 300 artists from all over Georgia participate in Pin Up each year. The Pin Up Show + Sale is a non-juried, one-night exhibition and sale open to all Georgia artists over the age of 18 who are invited to hang one piece of art, no larger than 12 x 16 x 5 inches, able to be hung with no more than four (4) standard push pins (supplied by MOCA GA) and priced under $500. This is not an auction. All works are for sale at 6pm to the first person willing to pay the stated price. All sales proceeds go to the artists.
PANEL OF FAVORITES JUDGES
MOCA GA will form a panel of gallery owners and curators who will pick their favorites from the show. Among those who have agreed to pick favorites are Robin Bernat (Poem 88), Annette Cone-Skelton (MOCA GA), Thomas Deans (Thomas Deans Fine Art), Jeff Guy (Twin Kittens), Robin Sandler, Debbie Hudson (Sandler Hudson Gallery), Erica Jamison (Mint Gallery), and Joey Orr.
INFO FOR ARTISTS
Artists must hand-deliver and pin up their work on Wednesday, November 14 between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., or until there is no remaining wall space. Works must be no larger than 12 x 16 x 5 inches and able to be mounted by no more than four (4) push pins. The stated allowable dimensions apply to the size of the entire piece, including borders. Only one entry per artist. Unsold artwork may be picked up after the event on Thursday, November 15 from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, November 16 or Saturday, November 17.
