- Lyman Public Relations Chris Lyman, 707-256-3948 chris@Lymanpr.com Michael Silvas, president and co-owner of Morgan Lane, a real estate brokerage company specializing in luxury properties in Northern California, was named as one of the "100 Most Influential Real Estate Leaders of 2008" by Inman News. Silvas earned the honor along with other important players such as Federal Reserve

Board Chairman Ben Bernanke.

Inman News recognized Silvas in the Trade Association and Government Representatives category. Silvas shares this notoriety with some of the most well-known names in the finance and real estate industry such as Bernanke, Secretary of the Treasury Henry M. "Hank" Paulson Jr., and Sheila Bair, the chairman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).

Inman News chose Silvas for his role as chairman of the board for The California Association of Realtors nonprofit subsidiary, CALMLS, which is pursuing a statewide property information database that could develop into a statewide MLS system. Silvas was named along with Scott Kucirek, a founder of high-tech real estate brokerage company Zip-Realty, who has been hired to lead the CALMLS effort. MLSs around the state are closely watching CALMLS, and there have already been several efforts by groups of MLSs within the state to share data and otherwise collaborate across MLS boundaries to spare members the cost and complication of joining multiple systems.

The Inman News award reflects the industry's best and brightest and also includes those individuals from outside the real estate industry whose actions influence the business of buying and selling homes. The people on the list embody leadership, innovation, ingenuity, power and persistence. Inman News divides the list into seven categories: Brokerage; Technology and Online Real Estate; Trade Associations and Government Representatives; Media Heavyweights; Economists, Academics and Advocates; Mortgage and Ancillary Services; and Notables.

Silvas is president and co-owner of Morgan Lane, a real estate brokerage company specializing in luxury country, rural, suburban and urban properties in the Wine Country and surrounding communities of Northern California - including those in Napa, Sonoma and Marin. Morgan Lane is one of the premier, independent real estate firms representing vineyard and estate properties.

Mike and his wife, Jill Silvas, acquired Morgan Lane in June 1998. Both are actively involved in the real estate industry on a wide-ranging scale. Mike is the Past Chairman of the Board of the "for-profit" arm of the California Association of Realtors (CAR): Real Estate Business Services, Inc. (REBS) and recently served on the Board of Real Estate Business Technologies LLC (REBT), as a State Director and on the Strategic Planning and Finance Committee for CAR.

Mike was Realtor of the Year in 1993 in the Pasadena Association of Realtors and again in 1997 for the Pasadena Foothill Association of Realtors.

Morgan Lane is headquartered in Napa, CA. For more information call 800-511-1030, email info@morganlane.com or visit www.morganlane.com.
