The da Vinci robotic surgical system is used in a wide range of procedures, such as cardiac, thoracic and urological procedures as well as gynecologic procedures. Dr. Clough performs da Vinci robotic gynecologic procedures at Milford Regional Medical Center and at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Boston, MA.



Dr. Clough uses the da Vinci robotic surgical system for gynecologic procedures such as hysterectomies, ovarian cystectomies and treatment of endometriosis, among others. The da Vinci system's 3-D surgical view allows for greater access, precision and control than other minimally invasive approaches such as two-dimensional laparoscopy, enabling superior visualization of tissue planes and target anatomy. This expands the pool of patients who can benefit from minimally-invasive surgery to include patients with complex conditions such as high BMI, previous surgeries, large fibroids, chronic pelvic pain, fertility issues or severe endometriosis.



Use of the da Vinci robotic surgical technique also allows for improved outcomes that are beneficial to the patients, such as minimal blood loss and tissue damage, smaller incisions, less scar tissue, decreased length of hospital stay and recovery time, diminished post-operative pain, and a faster return to normal activities.
