2009-11-09 17:00:29 - Sleek and stylish, the LG GW620 is set to hit the markets anytime soon this late part of the year. It comes in black casing with either blue or silver keyboard. Whichever you choose, the slim design and the three inches touch screen makes it an eye candy, as with many of LG’s previous releases.

But skin- deep, the latest smart phone from the Korean company’s arsenal is also packed with features comparable to other Android-infused phones in the market. It features a wide HVGA touch screen that has a rotating function for vertical and horizontal viewing. It sports a QWERTY format keyboard that is designed for users who rely on their mobile phones for

more than just making voice calls and sending SMS.

Google It

More importantly, this is built on an operating system that takes advantage of a lot of mobile applications and services developed by Google, the owner of the Android OS. A number of Google services such as Gmail, Google Maps, Google Voice and the Google search engine are integrated into the system. These conveniences, which used to be enjoyed only via the computers is now within easy reach even while you are on the go.

It also supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, micro USB and 3.6 Mbps UMTS/HSDPA connectivity. This allows for much flexibility in data accessing, transfer and management as your mobile phone takes on a more active role in mobile computing. Its internal memory is capable of a 1,000 phonebook inputs and can be expanded upt to 16 GB via the micro SD slot.

Staple Features

There are also other great features that are staples in smart phones, yet comes improved in the LG GW620. It has a better 5 megapixel auto focus camera that comes with video recording capabilities and an image and video editor. A multi media player, a stereo FM radio and GPS navigation systems are among the many add-ons packed into the handset.

LG has the young group who are deep into social networking in mind for their latest smart phone. The model comes with Social Networking Service (SNS) manager that allows real-time updates from contacts via email, instant messages, tweets and facebook status. So even if you are far from home and your PC, this phone lets you maintain your social network involvement active, and maybe even productive if you employ these services for other than personal uses.

Built for Social Networking

Leaning towards the social networking function, it has a built-in face recognition system. Although it is not yet clear if this works for auto-tagging photos in facebook or just for displaying the right images in the contacts cache or for more sophisticated functions. LG has been mum on a lot of other details in the phone specification. But expect the Korean dragon to unleash them as we approach the end of the last quarter of the year.

Already, there are a lot of reasons to keep our search engines abuzz with its new developments. To decide whether they are worth our pounds is another thing. Let LG bring it beyond the lower half of the Korean Peninsula first.
