Medtronic, Inc. received today an International Business Leadership Award from the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce in recognition for its significant impact on the economy of the state of Florida in the Education & Training category.

Awards were presented to one small and one large business in each of the following categories: Business Retention & Expansion, Education & Training, Entrepreneurship, Innovation & Innovative Practices, Joint Ventures, and Philanthropic & Community Leadership. Applications were reviewed by a panel of judges whose business expertise spans international business.

“The health benefits that our life-saving medical technologies provide are directly linked to the skills and knowledge that physicians have when it comes to performing the surgery to implant them and to monitor or program their performance

post-surgery. As a result, training in the use of our products is of equal importance to the actual product design itself. In order to facilitate learning, we have created world-class training facilities such as our virtual operating room in Miami to support employees and physician partners from across Latin America,” said James Hogan, vice president of the Latin America region for Medtronic. “We are proud to report that, in the past year, we have trained more than 500 surgeons from 18 countries in Latin America, and more than 75 employees from 10 countries.”
