OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 11/09/09 -- Their Excellencies the Right Honourable Michaelle Jean, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, and Mr. Jean-Daniel Lafond, accompanied by their daughter, Marie-Eden, will participate in the following Remembrance Day ceremonies, on Wednesday, November 11, 2009:

National War Memorial, Ottawa, Ontario


Their Excellencies and Marie-Eden, along with Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, will attend the National Remembrance Day Ceremony at the National War Memorial in Ottawa.

Luncheon for the Silver Cross Mother


Rideau Hall, 1 Sussex Drive, Ottawa, Ontario


Their Excellencies will host a luncheon at Rideau Hall to pay tribute to this year's National Silver Cross Mother, Mrs. Della Marie Morley. Her son, the late Corporal Keith Ian Morley, was killed in the Panjawi district of Afghanistan, on September 18, 2006, while serving with A Company, 2nd Battalion, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, based in Shilo, Manitoba. He was one of four members of the Canadian Forces killed as a result of a suicide bombing, while on foot patrol in the district. The National Silver Cross Mother is chosen annually by the Royal Canadian Legion. She represents all Canadian mothers who lost children in the military service of their nation, by attending the National Remembrance Day Ceremony in Ottawa.
