MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY has hailed his ex-girlfriend PENELOPE CRUZ as an Oscar nominee at the Academy Awards next year (07), following her performance in VOLVER.
The HOW TO LOSE A GUY IN 10 DAYS hunk is still friends with the Spanish screen siren, despite their June (06) split after dating for two years.
McConaughey says, "I just saw Volver, in fact.
"She's going to get an Oscar nomination - or she should. She's incredibly excited about that film."
