2008-10-09 22:56:34 - The votes have been counted and people really want to see Rover back in The Prisoner TV drama.

Rover, if you are not up on your 60's TV trivia, is the name for the big white balloon that suffocates people and causes no end of problems for the main character, Number 6.

During September, The Prisoner Online, the online portal for all things related to The Prisoner, ran a short survey asking their visitors, "Which original prop would you

like to see in the AMC/ITV remake?". With over 62% of the vote came one of the strongest and most memorable visual icons of the original series, Rover - the big white balloon.

Coloured umbrellas and Number 2's bubble chair were also popular in second and third place respectively. However the ultimate 60's icon, the Lava Lamp, came in with just 4.5% of the vote, sorry Mathmos.

The modern remake of The Prisoner is being filmed currently in Namibia and will star Sir Ian McKellen and Jim Caviezel. It is unclear if the new production will feature a Rover or anything even similar. Full details of the original show and the much anticipated 2009 remake can be found at www.theprisoneronline.com - the complete guide to The Prisoner.
