Performances of the MARY POPPINS musical in both London and New York City had to be cancelled yesterday (25OCT06) due to technical difficulties.
The Broadway production at the New Amsterdam Theatre was brought to a halt at the beginning of the second act when a problem with the set came to light.
Producer TOM SCHUMACHER spoke to the audience as technicians tried to remedy the problem, but the show was cancelled 30 minutes later.
Five hours earlier across the Atlantic, the performance at the Prince Edward Theatre in London's West End was scrapped after an undisclosed technical issue.
Schumacher says, "This may be one for the record books. We always strive for perfection on our 15 shows around the world but sometimes no matter how hard everyone is working, things do go wrong.
"My concern is always the safety of our cast and crew and the delight of our audience."
