Puerto Rican pop hunk RICKY MARTIN took time out of his European tour to lend his support to a new initiative to curb child trafficking and exploitation.
Through his charity, The Ricky Martin Foundation, the singer signed an agreement with the International Organisation For Migration (IOM) which will see the launch of over 150 counter-trafficking projects around the world.
The Madrid manifesto, signed on Tuesday (16MAY06), sees Martin back victim-support ventures as well as developing ways to enforce the law.
He said in a statement, "We are committed to ending child exploitation.
Unfortunately, more than half of trafficking victims worldwide are children, forced into pornography, prostitution and labour servitude, among other forms of exploitation.
"We are certain that this alliance will create a global call to action." The Ricky Martin Foundation was established in 1996 to aid children's causes.
