BOSTON (AP) - Rob Johnson doubled home two runs in the 11th inning to give the Seattle Mariners a thrilling 7-6 win at the Boston Red Sox in the American League on Friday.
George Kottaras hit his first major-league homer in the bottom of the 11th for the Red Sox but they could not find the tying run.
Seattle got a break in the fourth inning when a fan caught a pop-up that the Boston third baseman was attempting to catch. Three batter later, Ronny Cedeno hit a go-ahead two-run homer for the Mariners.
Boston got two runs in the eighth to tie the game and send it to extra innings.
Yankees 4, Blue Jays 2
In New York, the hosts notched their eighth win in nine games by downing Toronto.
Yankees pitcher A.J. Burnett was strong against his old team, allowing two runs in seven innings.
Robinson Cano and Alex Rodriguez homered for New York.
Rangers 3, Rays 1
In Arlington, Texas, pitcher Tommy Hunter earned his first career victory on his 23rd birthday as Texas beat Tampa Bay.
Hunter was making his sixth career start and third this season. He struck out five in 5 1-3 innings.
Tampa Bay equaled a season low by getting only three hits.
Hank Blalock, who hit a two-run homer in the ninth to beat the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday, had a two-run shot in the fourth as the Rangers won their third straight.
White Sox 5, Royals 0
In Kansas City, Missouri, Chicago made it seven wins on the trot by shutting out Kansas City.
Chicago's starting pitcher John Danks threw 7 1-3 shutout innings and got a big lift from reliever Scott Linebrink.
Danks struck out seven and did not allow a walk. He left after the Royals loaded the bases. Linebrink came in and forced a double play grounder.
Chicago has won five straight over the Royals, who have scored just three runs in their past four games.
Indians 15, Athletics 3
In Cleveland, the hosts snapped a five-game losing streak in style, crushing Oakland.
Shin-Soo Choo homered twice and drove in a career-high seven runs. He had an RBI single, two-run double, three-run homer and capped his night with a solo homer. It was Choo's second career multihomer game and the most RBIs by a Cleveland player this season.
The 15 runs was two more than the 13 combined runs they scored during the five-game losing skid.
