Thoughts-Opinion-Truth
It was a super busy year so far for a woman who died 46 years ago. Leaving behind an unfinished life. The best years were ahead of her, as poet Carl Sandburg put it right after her death. He authored her eulogy and some Monroe biographer and historians handed falsely this credit over to Lee Strasberg, who delivered Sandburg's wonderful words in memory of a genius artist: Marilyn Monroe.
What is there to say about a woman who was attacked for decades, without having had the chance to defend herself against the ugliest slander one could handle. It would have killed her, over and over if she would have witnessed the lies that were spread about her. Or would she have just laughed it off, like she was laughing
so wonderfully loud and happy--during her final interview--conducted on July 7, 1962 by Richard Meryman.
What can one learn when you read so much about the 'unicorn of Hollywood' - the magic horse that has a horn and it can fly. It is so shiny and white and it makes you dream--again. Norma Jeane Baker turned Marilyn Monroe in an attempt to escape her own fears. Those fears became reality after her death.
The carpet beggars arrived and they cut little pieces out of a phenomenon which created itself. Through good and bad, especially the negative headlines created a sex monster that 'couldn't say no to any male or female.'
Really?
When one is trying to separate the good from the ugly, searching for the unknown, the truth, the fact based only reality, not much remains, not much is left of the blond sex symbol.
What remains is beyond words.
2008 was a busy, a super busy years for the Marilyn Monroe defamer, the Marilyn Monroe experts too, the real ones and the fake ones as well. The Marilyn Monroe haters, and the Marilyn Monroe defenders.
But why all this 'war'? an onlooker might ask. The answer to this question is silence. Deep, relaxing and wonderful silence. Why do I prefer the images where Marilyn Monroe's eye is closed and she seems to be sleeping? Because I hope that she will wake up and be with us again. Any minute now. Because I do not want to believe that each and everyone who has let us down in our fight for a legacy that is worth fighting for--is lost.
People are fighting over her--literally. They have been fighting over her for decades--and mostly for the money.
But when was the last time that you realized that people actually were fighting for her?
Please read on and learn about the media hoaxes and pranks of 2008--attached to a superstar which made it 46 years after her untimely death to be the sweetheart of the month. Unfortunately the cover story 'The Things She Left Behind' turned into 'The Things She Never Owned,' and VANITY FAIR's 25th Anniversary cover story 'The Secret Marilyn Files,' now turned into 'The Exposed Marilyn Fraud.'

And we should consider every day lost on which we have not danced at least once. And we should call every truth false which was not accompanied by at least one laugh.
