The Honorable Donald W. Lemons of the Supreme Court of Virginia and president-elect of the American Inns of Court, is pleased to announce that Marc Warren has been selected by the American Inns of Court Board of Trustees to be the organization’s executive director. Marc Warren will join the staff effective July 1, 2010 and replaces David P. Carey who retired in May 2010.
Marc Warren is the Deputy Chief Counsel for Operations for the Federal Aviation Administration. Prior to his FAA appointment, Warren served in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps, from which he retired in 2008 after having been selected for promotion to Brigadier General. He served as the Special Assistant to The Judge Advocate General and as
the Staff Judge Advocate for Combined Joint Task Force 7/Multi-National Forces in Iraq, V Corps in Iraq and Germany, and the 101 st Airborne Division (Air Assault). He was the Legal Advisor for the Joint Special Operations Command; Regimental Judge Advocate for the 11 th Armored Cavalry Regiment; and served in other assignments in the United States, Germany, Grenada, Bosnia, Kuwait, and Iraq. His awards and decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal, Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, and Meritorious Service Medal. A native of Tampa, Florida, Warren received both a B.A. and J.D. from the University of Florida, an LL.M. from The Judge Advocate General’s School, and a Master of Strategic Studies from the Army War College.

He epitomizes the values that are at the core of the American Inns of Court movement, and the board of trustees and all of our members are fortunate to have his leadership. American Inns of Court are designed to improve the skills, professionalism, and ethics of the bench and bar. An American Inn of Court is an amalgam of judges, lawyers, and in some cases, law professors and law students. Each Inn meets approximately once a month both to "break bread" and to hold programs and discussions on matters of ethics, skills and professionalism.
