2013-10-15 09:52:41 - Despite a strong start to its 2013 college football season, the Louisville Cardinals continue to be a team that bettors wager against in certain situations.
Halfway through its 2013 season, the Louisville Cardinals have a perfect 6-0 record, but as the sports handicapping website Vegas Experts found, the team continues to be weak when it comes to beating the Las Vegas betting line in home conference games.
The website’s research determined that this inability to win for bettors under these circumstances dates back to the 2007 season, and has continued into its seventh season. The latest instance came last Thursday night, when the Cardinals defeated its American Athletic Conference foe, the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, by a 24-10 score. That failed to cover the 19-point pointspread line.
Over this time span, Louisville has played at a .500 level from just a won/loss perspective, but when it comes to
wagering, the Cardinals have managed to be victorious on just six of 22 occasions.
For the most part, the won/loss and pointpread numbers have been in sync, with the exception of both the aforementioned game last week, and the 2012 college football season. Last year, Louisville was 3-1 in home games involving what was then Big East Conference teams, but just 1-3 when it came to winning against the Las Vegas betting line.
This college football trend comes into play this week as the Cardinals will be hosting the Central Florida Knights on Friday evening. The opening pointspread on the game had Louisville favored by 11 points, but the number has inched up to between 11.5 and 12 points, depending on the oddsmaker.
