A charity Santa Stomp takes place in Bournemouth on Sunday December 6 A sea of Santas will take to Bournemouth Pier next month to help send local children with life-threatening illnesses and their families to Lapland at Christmas.
Round Table Children’s Wish and Heart FM have joined forces for the town’s Santa Stomp on Sunday December 6 and places are available for those wishing to take part.
The event, which starts at midday, covers
a 5km route along the promenade from Bournemouth to Boscombe and back and is open to people of all ages. Admission costs £5 includes a Santa hat and entrants will be asked to raise sponsorship for the charity.
Organiser Davina Nichols of Round Table Children’s Wish said: “Dressing up as Santa adds a whole new fun dimension to a charity fun-run and running or walking in a Santa suit creates a little more of a challenge. We hope people will be creative in making their own costumes but we have a limited number of suits available for £5.
“The event is open to everyone – it’ll be a great way to enjoy some fresh air with the family and is a good team-building event for local businesses. More importantly – we’ll be raising vital funds to make Christmas dreams come true for some very poorly children. We’re delighted to be working in partnership with Heart FM to make the Santa Stomp come to life.”
Round Table Children's Wish is granting the wishes of some local children to go on a four-day Lapland holiday. Money raised will cover flights, accommodation and spending money. The youngsters will visit the Snow Village to meet Santa and his elves and have a chance to bake with Mrs Claus. Children also have the chance to visit Santa’s post office and workshop, enjoy a husky-drawn sleigh ride, tobogganing and meet Rudolph for a reindeer ride. In addition, half the funds will go to Heart FM's charity Have a Heart to support disadvantaged children in the Dorset and New Forest Area.
