Haralee.Com wins StartUpNation Home Based Business Award for 2009 in the Boomers Back in Business Category
November 18, 2009 (Portland, OR) FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: A local businesswoman has just won another coveted national-level award for her entrepreneurial success. Haralee.com, the Portland-based home-based night and loungewear business launched by Haralee Weintraub in 2004, has been included in the 2009 Home Based 100 award winners, given by StartupNation.com. The 3rd annual Home Based 100 recognizes the top 100 home-based businesses in a variety of categories each year. What’s more, Haralee.com was also awarded first place in one of the award subcategories: Boomers Back in Business. The 100 winners were chosen from thousands of entries nationwide.
Haralee has experienced an overwhelming sales swell and an outpouring of media interest since the award winners were announced. Earlier this week, the award
announcement went live on MSN.com home page under money. (

Haralee’s line (which uses the motto, “Cool Garments for Hot Women) incorporates high-performance, moisture wicking fabrics into feminine designs, targeted to women who suffer from night sweats as a result of menopause or cancer treatments (or for those who just naturally run hot at night). Weintraub launched the line after receiving a breast cancer diagnosis at age 48; the chemotherapy treatments triggered early menopause, and Haralee found herself struggling to find something cool and dry enough to provide her with a decent night’s sleep. After several dowdy prototypes, Haralee quickly got the hang of making feminine, stylish clothing for women that performs an important task. Since then the line has steadily grown in popularity in Portland and nationwide. A portion of each Haralee.com sale goes to breast cancer charities.
This isn’t Haralee.com’s only 2009 award. The business was also the recipient of the US Commerce Association’s Best of Portland award in the Customized Clothing & Apparel category. For more information, high-res photographs please email Haralee at
