NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 12/11/12 -- The following is an investment opinion highlighting A123 Systems (PINKSHEETS: AONEQ), Johnson Controls (NYSE: JCI), Graphite Corp (OTCQB: GRPH) and Lithium Exploration Group (OTCQB: LEXG). Yesterday, in a last minute push, Wanxiang Group, Corp. made a final bid for troubled battery maker A123 Systems (PINKSHEETS: AONEQ) and beat out Johnson Controls (NYSE: JCI) to take over all A123 operations, minus government contracts. The deal, although pending bankruptcy proceedings approval, would keep A123 as the battery supplier to car makers GM and Fisker.

Demand for lithium ion batteries, which power everything from electric vehicles to today's laptops, phones and tablets have helped fuel the boom for lithium stocks over the past few years. Lithium Exploration Group (OTCQB: LEXG) is trading at almost 65% above its 52 week low and reached a high of over $10.00 last year. Many people are not aware that lithium ion batteries contain upwards of 15 times more graphite than lithium, and as demand for these batteries increase, so could the demand for graphite.

According to Industrial Minerals (indman.com/graphitereport) China has begun its shift from being a source of raw materials to a source of finished products which could be a potential game changer for graphite and its industry. Since 2010, natural graphite has seen a price jump of 140% as other countries around the world look to bring graphite mines into production.

One of the more promising companies aiming to bring graphite production to America is Graphite Corp. (OTCQB: GRPH) an exploration stage company focused on the development of graphite based deposits in the US. Graphite Corp. recently announced historical data on its Alabama property indicating over 7 Million minable tons of graphite. Graphite Corp. also holds properties in Montana, which is another historically positive graphite mining area in the US. The Company is positioning itself to emerge as a leading pure-play exploration company through the development of its current strategic land positions and just yesterday announced the review of its recent field study in Alabama citing "The mineralization was crystal flake graphite up to several millimeters in diameter, disseminated throughout the foliated beds and in some of the igneous rocks there were extremely large flakes up to a centimeter in diameter."
