2008-10-20 06:54:12 - Linens 'N Things and Mervyns, two major national retailers of bedding and home furnishings, announced they are closing their doors, but their customers have been offered help from Bedding.com.

Charlotte, NC - Despite previous announcements that some stores would remain open, both Linens ‘N Things and Mervyns have announced plans to go out of business, but there is good news for customers of those stores.

One of the largest retailers of bedding and home furnishings, www.Bedding.com, has announced plans to fill the needs of all Linens ‘N Things and Mervyns customers at a discount and with no shipping costs.

The Bedding.com web site is ranked number one ahead of the Linens ‘N Things site on all major search engines. The company was formed in 1997 and has been profitable every year since then, including this year.

'We offer name brands at a discount, and to help former customers of Linens ‘N Things

and Mervyns we are discounting all products even further through the end of the year. We are even dropping all shipping charges for orders over $99,' said Ted Kavana, president and chief executive officer.

A group of six of the U.S. largest liquidators were the only buyers to emerge in a bankruptcy auction for the assets of Linens 'n Things, according to a Reuters news report. All 371 stores will be closed by the end of the year or sooner, according to the report.

Department store chain Mervyns Holdings LLC, which sells clothing and home goods, announced plans to liquidate its merchandise and auction its store leases, according to a report by Reuters.

'We have always been profitable. We do not have any financial issues like Linens ‘N Things or Mervyns. So we will be around for a very long time,' said Kavana. 'Those stores had a reputation for selling name brands at top dollar, while we specialize in selling the same quality bedding and home furnishings at the guaranteed lowest price, which has enabled us to prosper when others are forced to close,' he added.
