Renowned actor, singer and entertainment industry entrepreneur Leon Lai has been appointed Ambassador of this year's Entertainment Expo Hong Kong, which opens 18 March and continues through 13 April.

A video featuring Mr Lai promoting Entertainment Expo and Hong Kong's film, TV and entertainment industry will open on 9 February at nearly 50 cinemas in Hong Kong. The video was directed by Mr Lai, with Cheung Man Wah as director of photography. Mr Cheung also photographed Mr Lai for additional Expo promotions. The fashion worn by Mr Lai in the film was provided by Ermenegildo Zegna, from its spring 2013 collection.

Impressive Career

Development Council (HKTDC) Assistant Executive Director Raymond Yip. "Mr Lai's impressive career in film, TV, music and the entertainment industry has made him a household name in Hong Kong and beyond," said Mr Yip. He added that Mr Lai "owns a music company and is widely involved in the development of the entertainment industry. His keen interest in nurturing young directors and artists, and his talent as an actor, singer and movie director reflect Entertainment Expo's mix of film, TV, music and digital entertainment. Mr Lai is the perfect choice to help promote Entertainment Expo, and Hong Kong's entertainment industry, to the world," said Mr Yip.

"I am delighted to be the Entertainment Expo Ambassador," said Mr Lai. "While the Expo attracts entertainment industry professionals from Asia and around the world, many of its events are also open to the public. I encourage people to take part."

Multimedia Showcase

This year's Expo features nine events covering film, TV, music and digital entertainment: the Hong Kong International Film & TV Market, better known as FILMART, the Hong Kong Film Awards Presentation Ceremony, the Hong Kong International Film Festival, the Asian Film Awards, the Hong Kong - Asia Film Financing Forum, the Hong Kong Asian-Pop Music Festival, the IFPI Hong Kong Top Sales Music Award, ifva and the Digital Visual Effects Summit.

City-Wide Promotion

In support of this year's Entertainment Expo, local cinemas, retail outlets, restaurants and bars will launch "Enjoy Great Movies, Enjoy Special Offers." Details will be announced soon.
