- for The Thalians Kevin Sasaki, (310) 652-3255 Clint Eastwood, the legendary international cinema icon, will be honored with The Thalians 53rd annual lifetime achievement award on Sunday, November 2 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel for his lifetime of contributions to entertainment as well as his humanitarian accomplishments. The award will be presented to Eastwood at The Thalians Ball, an
evening which raises funds for the Thalians Mental Health Center at Cedars Sinai Hospital.
The annual gala is co-hosted by The Thalians founding members Debbie Reynolds and Ruta Lee. This year's event will be emceed by comedian and television star George Lopez, along with several other special celebrity guests.
Voted the 16th "Greatest Movie Star of All Time" by Entertainment Weekly, Clint Eastwood is a living legend and a true movie star. He was named the #1 top money-making star at the box office in Quigley Publications' annual poll of movie exhibitors five times between 1972 and 1993. In 2004, he became the oldest person to win the Best Director Oscar for "Million Dollar Baby. Premiere Magazine has ranked him as #43 on a list of the Greatest Movie Stars of All Time in their Stars in Our Constellation feature. Eastwood's performance as "Dirty ("Make My Day")Harry" is ranked #92 on Premiere Magazine's 100 Greatest Performances of All Time. The five-time Oscar winner is cited as "America's Favorite Movie Star" by the Harris Polls conducted in 1993, 1994 and 1997.
The special evening honoring Eastwood will feature surprise guest stars who will honor the legend, along with headline performances by some of Eastwood's favorite jazz artists.
Previous Thalians honorees have included Jack Lemmon, James Stewart, Angela Lansbury, Mary Tyler Moore, Sally Field, Whoopi Goldberg, Carol Burnett, Phyllis Diller and Liza Minnelli, to name a few.
