- Three law students will share $5,000 in cash awards for writing position papers in response to a delicate issue presented on the subject of embryo donation and adoption. The winning students carefully tackled the issue of how to handle custody of a child born through embryo adoption after discovering that the egg donor never intended for any resulting embryos
to be donated. The essay competition was organized by Nightlight Christian Adoptions (Nightlight(TM)) as part of its Embryo Donation and Adoption Awareness Campaign as a way to create a greater interest in the field of Assisted Reproduction Technology Law among law students across the nation. "The contest is an effort to get law students interested in the emerging issues facing embryo donation and adoption and reproductive technology as a whole," said Ronald Stoddart, executive director of Nightlight(TM). "We are hoping to stir a national discussion on how to handle the many possible legal challenges lurking just around the corner."
