Donald R. Hamilton and Gregory Lagana announced today the establishment of LaganaHamilton, LLC, a Washington-area communications, public relations and marketing firm.

LaganaHamilton, LLC helps clients navigate comfortably in an increasingly risky political and media environment that demands greater openness and accountability. It offers strategic counsel, program planning and project execution.

“A reputation for being accountable and upright is the best defense in this age of instant information and misinformation,” said Hamilton.

“Those who learn to face the public and media squarely and respectfully can reap great rewards.”

Mr. Lagana added, “Reputations are made through good faith and good practices, not words. Too often, dialogue with the public is an afterthought, when it should be an integral part of an organization’s planning, operations,

and ethos.”

Both founders bring significant experience in media relations, executive, cross-cultural, and crisis communications. The company offers a full range of communications and public relations services, including graphics, creative support, and media buying.

Hamilton and Lagana established their partnership after careers in government and the private sector.

As a Foreign Service officer, Mr. Hamilton served in Lima, San Salvador, Tel Aviv, Mexico City, Santo Domingo, and Washington. In Washington, he directed public diplomacy activities for all of Latin America for the United States Information Agency and served as communications director for Ambassador-at-Large for Counterterrorism L. Paul Bremer and Drug Czar William Bennett.

After leaving the Foreign Service, Mr. Hamilton was deputy director and executive director of the Oklahoma City Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism (MIPT). He also spent year with the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq, where he oversaw a massive public opinion polling effort. Prior to government service, Mr. Hamilton worked as a journalist.

Mr. Lagana was also a Foreign Service officer, with postings in Madrid, San Salvador, Quito, Rome, and Washington. In Washington, he was director of press and public affairs for Latin America at the Department of State and deputy director for Central American affairs. He was associate director of global communications at the White House from 2001 to 2005, and from 2005 to 2009 he was senior vice president for communications and marketing at DynCorp International, a government-services contractor.
