JESSICA SIMPSON's estranged husband NICK LACHEY is reportedly furious with Rolling Stone founder JANN WENNER - after the veteran journalist promised him the front cover of the US music bible, but instead printed the interview in American publication Us Weekly.

The former 98 DEGREES star hoped the feature in the respected magazine would give his image a much needed boost and was horrified when he saw his face adorning the less prestigious publication.

And Lachey is convinced he lost the cover after refusing to reveal too much about his split from Simpson after three years of marriage.

A friend tells PageSix.com, "It's absurd to dangle the cover in front of someone, and if it doesn't work out, just hand it to another magazine. We will think twice before dealing with Wenner again." (JB/WNWCPS/SC)
