- Karina Siam has been hired as LA Sports & Entertainment's Manager, Sports & Entertainment Sales, it was announced today by Kathryn Schloessman, LASEC president.
Siam is responsible for attracting non-professional sporting and entertainment events like collegiate championships to the Los Angeles area by fostering relationships with area colleges and universities and within the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)
national office. The LA Sports & Entertainment Commission is a division of LA INC. The Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau and Siam will work closely with the LA INC. sales team as a designated liaison between venues, hotels and the client.
Siam recently earned her MBA and MS in sport management from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Previously, Siam worked as a governance intern at the NCAA national office in Indianapolis, IN. Siam earned a BA in human development from the University of California, San Diego where she played basketball for four years.
"We are fortunate to have Karina join our team," said Schloessman. "She has excellent experience, intelligence and relationships and that will add tremendous value to our efforts to attract more sporting and entertainment events to the City of Los Angeles."
LASEC is the official organization for the City of Los Angeles to seek, host, promote and retain major sporting and entertainment events that positively impact the local economy by attracting visitors to the City, giving them a reason to stay longer and return more frequently. Official marketing partners of the organization are American Express, Delta Air Lines, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, First American Title Insurance Company, LA INC., The Convention and Visitors Bureau, Longo Toyota/Scion/Lexus, Penske Automotive Group, Majestic Realty Co., Sprint and Wachovia.
