KONE Corporation, press release, March 12, 2013
KONE has won an order for 94 elevators and 36 escalators to be installed in the
super high-rise tower, two lower towers and podium of the Chongqing
International Trade and Commerce Center under construction in Chongqing,
Southwest China. The deal includes seven KONE DoubleDeck elevators, 64 KONE
MiniSpace(TM) elevators, 23 KONE S MonoSpace® elevators, 36 KONE TravelMaster®
escalators, and the KONE E-Link remote monitoring system.
Once completed, the Chongqing International Trade and Commerce Center's tallest
tower will rise to a height of 468 meters and stand on the banks of the Jialing
River like a gigantic unfolding sail. The 105-story tower will be home to the
world's highest-traveling KONE elevator to date - a KONE MiniSpace that will
travel to a height of 452
meters.
"We are very excited that this super high-rise tower in Chongqing will house a
KONE elevator that can transport people 98 stories in one continuous journey -
the highest-traveling KONE elevator to date! We have worked closely with the
customer to ensure the best possible and ecologically most sound People Flow®
solutions for this landmark project in this rapidly urbanizing city," said
William B. Johnson, Executive Vice President for KONE Greater China.
In addition to the super high-rise tower, which includes premium offices and a
five-star hotel, the Chongqing International Trade and Commerce Center includes
a 47-story office building, a 39-story luxury serviced apartment building and a
shopping mall podium. The total floor space of the buildings will exceed
680,000 square meters, and construction is expected to be completed in April
2017.
KONE's eco-efficient solutions were a key consideration for the project as the
Chongqing International Trade and Commerce Center is aiming for Gold-level LEED
certification. The LEED framework is intended to provide a framework for
identifying and implementing practical and measurable solutions for green
building design, construction, operations and maintenance.
Tha main contractor of the project is Chongqing Shui On Tiandi Property
Development Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Hong Kong-based Shui On Land. The
architects of the project are P&T, ARUP, KPF, and Benwood.
The order was booked in the fourth quarter of 2012.
