- B/W/R Lynda Dorf / Gina Lang, 310-550-7776 ldorf@bwr-la.com / glang@bwr-la.com Kevin Bacon (The Woodsman, Mystic River) has signed on to star in Herrick Entertainment's My One and Only opposite the previously announced Renee Zellweger, Chris Noth, Nick Stahl and Logan Lerman, it was announced today by company principal Norton Herrick. The film, directed by Richard Loncraine (Firewall, Wimbledon) from
a screenplay by Charlie Peters, has begun principal photography in Baltimore.
Herrick Entertainment is financing. Aaron Ryder's Raygun Productions and Norton Herrick are producing. George Hamilton and Elayne Herrick are executive producers with Ronnie Ward, Robert Pritchard, Robert Kosberg and Michael Herrick.
My One and Only is inspired by a story that George Hamilton told Merv Griffin about his early life on the road with his flamboyant mother and brother. Set in the 1950s, when the glamorous Anne Deveraux (Zellweger) leaves her philandering band leader husband Dan (Bacon) and takes her two teenage sons on a drive down the Eastern seaboard from city to city in a quixotic search for a wealthy man to support them. Told from the perspective of the younger son, George, (Lerman) an old soul with Holden Caulfield wit, this heartfelt family comedy unfolds as they make their way across the country, eventually landing in Hollywood, where a new life seems possible.
"Casting an actor as respected and talented as Kevin Bacon only heightens the excitement we already feel for this project," said Norton Herrick. "Charlie Peters' script is riveting, and with Richard's vision and the caliber of the talent involved, this is sure to be an unforgettable film."
Bacon will next star in Ron Howard's Frost/Nixon, opposite Sam Rockwell, Michael Sheen, Matthew Macfadyen, Oliver Platt, Rebecca Hall and Frank Langella, and in HBO's Taking Chance, which will come out next year. He is repped by Endeavor, William Morris and attorney Frederic N. Gaines.
The behind-the-scenes team for My One and Only, includes Marco Pontecorvo as director of photography; Brian Morris as production designer; Humphrey Dixon as editor; Steve Lindsey as music supervisor; Howard Herrick as executive music producer; Doug Hall as costume designer; and casting by Mary Gail Artz and Shani Ginsberg.
The deal was brokered by Creative Artists Agency (CAA) and negotiated by Mickey Mayerson of Loeb & Loeb for Herrick Entertainment. CAA is co-selling the film's U.S. rights with Essential Entertainment, who is also handling worldwide sales.
Herrick Entertainment was recently established by The Herrick Company, Inc., (www.theherrickcompany.com), one of the nation's most successful real estate investment firms with transactions in energy-producing power plants which utilize biomass to generate electricity and produce ethanol and manufacturing facilities which utilize biomass to produce building materials (particleboard from rice byproduct). The company also invests in and develops residential apartments, commercial office, retail and industrial buildings. Its investment in thoroughbred horseracing reached new heights when Visionaire, trained by Michael Matz (Barbaro), recently raced in the Kentucky Derby and Sailor's Cap raced in the CrownRoyal American Turf Stakes.
