Kent designer Helen Brooks has launched a range of handmade recycled jewellery with the aim of recycling everyday objects into beautiful, sustainable accessories. Named Blackberry Winter, the range comprises of necklaces, pendants, earrings and cufflinks in vibrant hues such as turquoise, vermillion, purple and deep green. All items are made to order by hand using materials such as recycled newspaper, wool, tissue paper and vintage buttons. As a result, each piece is both environmentally-friendly and completely unique.
Helen, who lives in Kent, was
inspired to create the range by a desire to find a use for the items we throw away. She said:
“I have always had a passion for green issues and doing what I can to protect my little corner of the planet. I was inspired to find a use for the every day things we all throw away I set about turning the contents of my recycle box into beautiful things. I like to think that Blackberry Winter helps to turn old and unwanted items into new and it is my hope that my eco-friendly jewellery will be something people can enjoy and feel good about wearing.”
Blackberry Winter prices range from £12.50 for earrings made from recycled paper and pearls through to £15.00 for a pair of recycled paper cufflinks and £30.00 for a paper necklace & bracelet set. Helen is also designing a range of bridal jewellery for those who want to make their big day as green as possible.
