2009-11-27 20:54:32 - The Blackberry Storm2 is the latest incarnation from Blackberry, released in November 2009 this competent handset offers more advanced and comprehensive functionality than any previous version of a Blackberry. Measuring 112 mm x 62 mm wide and 14 mm thick this handset is comfortable to use and offers touch screen technology which is unusual for a Blackberry handset. The phone weighs 160 g, meaning it is no lightweight either in functionality or actual weight.




The phone comes with a 3.25 inch TFT capacity touch screen. The screen is able to display a pixel resolution of 480 x 360 pixels within a colour range of up to 65,000 colours. This ensures that images displayed are vibrant and are able to be seen with clarity. The handset also includes an accelerometer sensor which, as those who know auto rotates images to their correct aspect, depending on the orientation of the phone and the image being displayed.


The handset provides vibration and ring alert types, these include the opportunity to download MP3 ringtones to be utilised on the actual phone. A speakerphone is provided which allows hands-free communication as well as a 3.5 mm audio jack which

can be utilised for headphones.


The handset provides the photo call feature which means that images are displayed when an individual calls, making recognition of the individual calling much easier. The handset comes with a 2 GB internal memory as well as the useful microSD slot which can be used for expanding the memory if required.


Connectivity within this phone is provided by GPRS which is class 10 as is also the EDGE connection. The HSDPA and Wi Fi provide internet access either through its own connection or through nationally available hotspots. Blue tooth and microUSB provide the means to share files seamlessly either with a suitably attired Bluetooth device or through a USB cable.

The phone provides a 3.15 mega pixel camera which operates at a pixel resolution of 2048 x 15 36 pixels. To aid in taking effective imagery the camera provides auto focus, image stabilisation and an LED flash. This ensures that images taken are the best possible as well as ensuring illumination of the subject matter. An additional extra is geo tagging, which provides reference by location. The camera doubles up as a video capture device.


The Blackberry Storm2 utilises the Blackberry operating system, much like the Blackberry curve 8520 and also comes with a variety of additional features such as GPS, MP3/MP4 player, organiser and voice memo facility.
